TOUR SUGGETSION 1

Duration 2^3 hrs

Transportation by: bike, foot

Extra details:

You should store your luggage at Oslo S, go rent that bike, then bike over to the opera house and check it out. I`m not sure if bikes are allowed on the actual building site.
Then follow the dock and you`ll come to Vippetangen and from there you can bike up to the fortress and bike around up there. There are some museums there, but don`t know if they are free of charge. After that check out the rest of the docks and Aker Brygge, before you bike up to the Palace which will only be two minutes away on a bike.
That area plus Karl Johan street is the down town area of Oslo and is very small.

Then go west to Solli plass, and follow Frognerveien or Bygdøy allé to see the rich area of Oslo before the park. Then go back downtown down Bogstadveien and head for Grünerløkka going over St.Hanshaugen. While going through St.Hanshaugen check out the top part of the park first. Beautiful view over Oslo.

Grünerløkka has a lot of cool small shops to go window shopping, lots of café`s, nice parks, probably the most diverse burrough in Oslo. If you`re into botanical stuff check out the botanic gardens before going to Grønland. If not go back down town by the river to see a lot of weird stuff and some of the back side of Oslo. Which you`ll probably see by the train station as well.

Wow that was a lot of writing, but I did most of this tour with some couchsurfers and that was a huge success. Only took a few hours too. They didn`t get to check out some of the many free museums this city has to offer, but they still enjoyed it.

If you`re hardcore and want to pack in as much stuff as possibly you can also go island-hopping on the ferries(one hour ride) and then take a boat to Bygdøy. Bygdøy has only one bike rack and that`s far away from the boats. And even possible taking subway 1 to the top. But it takes 30 minutes just getting up there. Or bike up to Ekebergskrenten, or just take a bus for a closer view over the city. Better to spread all of it over a few days, but now you should have enough to think about heheh :D

There are good places to eat all over Oslo, but the cheaper places are on the eastside of the river and around the central station and Youngstorget if you`re hungry.
