Klosterruins and other ruins

This island is probably best known for its ruins after the building of the Kloster in the 1100 century. During summer there are often tours around the Kloster.

Hovedøya also got some leftovers from a quarry from the 1200 century, one shipyard from the 1600 century, and there is also many buildings from the army like “ammo” house, lavett house and the commandant residens.

Arjuna dolltheatre

Every summer the Arjuna dolltheatre play for kids in the commandant residens. Its two shows on every Sunday from may to end og June.

Café`s

Klosterkroa Café

Revierhavnen Kro

To get to this one youll need a boat and park at the Revierharbour Guestdock

How to get there :

Get to Vippetangen ( buss nr. 60 ) leaves from outside Oslo Central Station near the big tower. Street is called Fred Olsens Gate – youll see it when you get there. It also says Vippetangen on the bus.

Check “trafikanten” link on the main page for times.

(Type : “place where youre at” and destination : “vippetangen”)

If you manage to mess this is up its only 10 minutes walk from the Oslo Central Station. Ask people where the ferry to Denmark leaves from and they’ll point you in the direction, its simple.

At Vippetangen take boat nr. 92 or 93.

Boat nr. 92 takes 5 minutes and boat 93 about 20 minutes.

Nakholmen

Nakholmen is dominated by small private cabins. There are no public beaches here and no kidfriendly beach either. There are places to swim for youth and adults though. In the middle of the island there are green areas. It’s a grosseryshop open during summer and there are toilets.

Around Nakholmen, people says it’s a lot of fish so I often see people fish from this island. The owner of the island is Statsbygg so it’s a free public areal.
